Letter from the editor – 42.23

To the amazing ML/LD community,

In this weeks edition you will see a few news headlines again centred around various communities suing big tech around the addictive nature of social media and the way in which their platforms have been designed.

Maybe I’m cynical but the odds are outrageously stacked right now in favour of these companies as just like “Big Tobacco” it often takes decades of public pressure and negative health outcomes to create the frameworks of regulation. Having said that (and ironically) the power of social media might be actually one of the things which raises public awareness.

I still truly believe though for now the focus for every individual and family should be to not rely on regulation and create their own healthy balance of time on and time off devices.
